Case Study: COB P1.25 Indoor Fine-Pitch LED Display – Control Room Installation, Los Angeles, USA

Project Overview

This cob p1.25 led display control room project supplied a Chip-on-Board P1.25 indoor fine-pitch LED video wall for a control/dispatch center in the Greater Los Angeles area, California — a real cob led display los angeles installation, not a showroom demo.

This control room led display case study covers a real COB P1.25 deployment, not a hypothetical scenario.

Challenge

This indoor fine pitch LED display installation came with a tight timeline. Given the fine 1.25mm pixel pitch and the round-the-clock operational nature of a control room environment, precise cabinet alignment and minimal disruption to ongoing operations required an experienced, highly skilled installation team.

For the underlying difference between COB and SMD technology that made this pixel pitch possible, see our SMD vs COB LED display guide.

Solution

LED technology: COB (Chip-on-Board) packaging — offering higher contrast, durability, and a smoother viewing surface, with better resistance to dust and physical impact compared to traditional SMD packaging, well suited to control room settings where operators view the screen up close for extended periods.

Display size: 5.22m (W) × 3.26m (H)

This small pitch led display cabinet configuration used 56 cabinets (640×480mm each), arranged 8 columns × 7 rows.

Maintenance mode: Front maintenance — this front maintenance cob LED display case study detail mattered for keeping the dispatch center operational during servicing.

Refresh rate: 3840Hz–7680Hz

Brightness: 600 nits

Recommended viewing distance: 1–5 meters

Installation Process

To keep the project on schedule, the installation team mounted the two side sections of the video wall first, then completed the center section last — allowing structural mounting and cabling work to proceed efficiently across the full width of the wall while keeping alignment accurate throughout the process.

Result

Despite the tight timeline, this was a true 1-day LED video wall installation — the entire video wall was installed and completed in just 1 day, giving the control room a seamless, high-resolution COB P1.25 display suited for continuous monitoring and dispatch operations. The project includes LED display warranty and spare parts support: available spare parts and a 2-year warranty for ongoing coverage.

This installation reflects the kind of COB deployment we cover in more depth in our guide to COB displays for command and control rooms. If you're weighing this against an existing LCD video wall, see our LCD-to-LED retrofit decision guide.
